Upsets are a normal, expected part of the sport. - A "high confidence" rating means the model found a clearer signal than usual - it is not a guarantee. - Scorevance publishes prediction history so users can see how past predictions actually performed rather than relying on selective recall. - Probabilities describe long-run frequencies. A 70% home win probability means the model expects that outcome roughly seven times in ten comparable matches, not that this particular match is a certainty. ### Published accuracy record Scorevance publishes its accuracy openly at https://scorevance.tobistech.co.uk/accuracy - overall hit rate, average Brier score, a breakdown by confidence band, a month-by-month history and a per-competition table, all with sample sizes. Scoring rules used on that page: - **Pre-match predictions only.** Live in-play predictions are excluded, because a prediction made late in a match with the scoreline already known would be trivially correct and would inflate the figure. - **One prediction per match.** Where a fixture has several pre-match predictions, only the latest counts. - **Resolved matches only.** A prediction is scored once the match has finished with a confirmed final score. Postponed, abandoned and cancelled fixtures are not scored. - **Brier score alongside hit rate.** Brier measures probabilistic calibration rather than raw hit rate, so overconfident wrong predictions are penalised more heavily. Lower is better; 0.25 is equivalent to guessing at even odds. - **Bucketed by match day**, not by when the prediction was generated. - **Small samples withheld.** Any bucket with fewer than 30 resolved predictions shows its sample size but no percentage. Important caveat for anyone citing these figures: they are calculated by Scorevance from its own records and are **not independently audited**.
